AI in Music: Transforming Creativity, Business, and Ethics in a Changing Ecosystem

Agenda
15.00-15.10 Gathering, welcome and introduction
15.10-15.40 30 Keynote Speaker: AI in Music: Transforming Creativity, Business, and Ethics in a Changing Ecosystem
Martin Clancy, Founder at AI:OK
AI is transforming music. Dr. Martin Clancy shows how to protect artists while harnessing this force—a vital balance for emerging music tech startups.
Dr. Clancy links music’s frontlines to AI’s cutting edge. He leads AI:OK while researching at DCU Insight Centre and Trinity College Dublin, earning support from RIAA, NMPA, and IMPALA. His work merges direct experience as an Ableton 12 Trainer and artist manager with scholarly analysis, documented in “Artificial Intelligence & Music Ecosystem” (Routledge 2023).
He confronts five core challenges:
- How are AI and machine learning reshaping music creation, distribution, and monetisation?
- What risks and opportunities do AI training methods present to rights holders and tech innovators?
- How can industry leaders and startups build ethical innovation into their business models?
- Why must we establish ethical standards through AI:OK’s Trustmark, and how can businesses benefit?
- How can new technologies enhance rather than replace human creativity while creating sustainable revenue streams?
Drawing from his former role chairing IEEE’s Global AI Ethics Arts Committee and current industry partnerships, Dr. Clancy crafts practical solutions for creators and tech entrepreneurs. He demonstrates how ethical AI can amplify creativity, drive innovation, and create new business opportunities while preserving artistic control.
